De Hoorne, Alkmaar and Uitgeest leisure authority

To the east of Akersloot in the Klaas Hoorn- en Kijfpolder, you’ll find a recreation park called De Hoorne. There are jetties for boats, playing fields and sunbathing areas, and also the chance for some surfing. These characteristic peat meadows are also the ideal place to spot special species of plants such as orchids and sundew, and meadow birds such as the black-tailed godwit, redshank and lapwing.
